Bovine Viral Diarrhoea

An eye-opener to the need for intervention

What did the client need?

To provide their sales representatives with a tool to optimize the outcome of sales presentations, the client chose to produce a 3D animated film. The objective of the film was to create among farmers and veterinarians awareness of the huge economic impact Bovine Viral Diarrhea (BVD) can have on cattle herds due to its rapid spread. Based on this knowledge, the need for an effective protection against the disease would be understood much better – a door opener for the introduction of the client’s vaccine. The film was needed by a specific date for a sales launch, which meant a tight production timeline.

How did we meet this need?

To meet the client’s need of a fast project implementation, we initially provided a rigid, but well-balanced timeline including deadlines for delivery and also for consolidated feedback. In light of past experience, this approach aids greatly in keeping the coordination process streamlined and optimized.

Although we created a realistic 3D model of a cow, we did not compose the film in a natural look but rather presented the cows in a more simplified style, similar to ceramic models. In fact, this film was the first in a long series of different cattle films all produced for the same client. The films were all created with the same look, thus lending the animations recognition value and consistency. For the initial film, we used a purposeful color palette to visualize the disease, its spread through the herd and the protection gained by vaccination. Ultimately, the film was produced on time and the satisfied client requested several country adaptations.
