Ruminants, in particular young cattle and lambs, are threatened by a wide range of pathogenic agents – viruses, bacteria, worms and unicellular organisms such as Giardia. These protozoa are a worldwide burden to cattle, causing diarrhea and decreased weight gain. Particularly calves of up to 1 year of age are affected.
